This is a Sales role that isn’t a Sales role!
Forget back to back cold calls and knocking on doors. This a reversed sales position where 90% of the time the prospect calls you, not the other way round. So what do you do then? Easy, you consult with them, determine their needs and providing them a tailored solution that fits their needs and budget. But if the phone doesn’t ring, don’t go golfing! Be proactive! Keep in contact with old clients, see how their machinery is performing, keep them updated with product developments and be sure to keep an ear out for new leads.
What are we selling?
This ROTORUA based company is proud to have been manufacturing specialist industrial roll forming equipment for decades. Each project various but they are all BIG, a typical machine can be 30 meters long, weigh 10’s of tons and have 1000’s of moving parts ranging from rollers, electric motors and PLC driven hydraulic pistons. There is no “cookie cutter” products. Every machine is customized to meet the needs of the individual client with optional add-ons available to further develop capabilities.
With a global client base, a site visit usually entails a trip overseas. Expect no less then 2 weeks international travel a year.

Are you ready?
This not a one-size fits all role. We have 2 key criteria when selecting candidates:
- A deep understanding of machinery: Perhaps you’re a Fitter Turner by trade, a Design Engineer or even a Technical Sales consultant, it doesn’t matter but you need to be passionate about machinery and know how it works.
- Customer focused mentality: You need to understand your client and their needs. Listen more than you talk! and deliver on your promises.
