Field Based Stainless Steel Welders/ Fabricators

Experienced Stainless Steel Welders/ Fabricators are required for an iconic metal engineering company in Wellington. Our client is currently working as part of a large construction project in central Wellington. As a result, multiple Stainless Steel Fabricators are needed to help fabricate and install various stainless steel building components, i.e. ‘all hands on deck’.

This is a varied and flexible role in location and hours. Your place of work will be both at the project site and the workshop. You will be provided with a vehicle to commute directly to the site where you will be taking part in the installation alongside 7 other team members.

On days where site work is not required, you will be commuting to their very organised, spacious and well-lit workshop located in Upper Hutt.

In terms of hours, there is no shortage of work so you can finish up your days as late as you like for when you have those birthdays and overseas trips!

You will need to have prior experience in stainless steel fabrication and welding. Due to the nature of the building components, you will need to be able to weld precisely and to fine tolerances – very thin sheets and airtight joints. However, we do welcome applicants with any lengths of stainless steel experience and will be rewarded accordingly.

This project is expected to run for another year or two but you will be employed on a permanent basis. Our client is a well established company in Wellington and has taken part in multiple large government and commercial projects over the years so your contribution will be required continuously.

Due to sensitive nature of the project, you will be required to undergo strict and rigorous security screening and drug test.

In summary, we are looking for candidates who are,

  • Experienced in sheet metal fabrication (mostly TIG with some structural)
  • Experienced in stainless steel
  • Able to interpret drawings
  • Mechanical aptitude with basic machinery/tools
  • Able to work as a team and interact with customers
  • Able to travel (full class 1 licence)
