4.5 million passengers choose this Auckland ferry service every year! With a fleet of 16 vessels operating multiple routes in the region, there’s a lot going on. Behind the scenes a team of skilled trade Engineers work around the clock to keep the fleet in top working order. With more routes and growing demand, the company has opened the doors for new staff to join the ranks in their land based workshop in downtown Auckland.
This “all-rounder” position focuses on the routine maintenance of the ferry fleet. Duties range from general maintenance of boat fittings, painting, diesel services, hydraulic repairs, steel fabrication, monitoring wear and tear.
This role is on the weekend shift meaning out the 5 days a week, 2 will fall on Saturday and Sunday giving you 2 days off during the working week. Weekday hours are 7:30am to 4:30pm. Weekend hours can fall between 6am and 6pm.
To be eligible for this position you must meet the following criteria:
- Qualified trade engineer (marine, mechanical, diesel or electrical)
- Excellent understanding of marine vessels and diesel engines
- Health and safety focus
- Experience in maintenance (marine not essential)
- Hold the right to work in New Zealand

You can expect a busy and varied role where no two days are the same. A great hourly rate is supplemented with Time and a Quarter for all weekend hours work. Meal and a hourly tool allowance is yours. You will get 5 weeks of annual leave a year.
