Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

On behalf of our well-established Wellington client, we are looking for an experienced and qualified mechanical engineer.


Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out plant and machinery maintenance, resolving breakdowns as well as implementing continuous improvement and engineering projects.

Successful candidates will ideally have previous experience within food, dairy, pharmaceutical or similar manufacturing. You will also have the ability to not just ‘do the job’, but to use your analytical and problem solving skills to provide top level service to the manufacturing plant.  Working as part of a team you will have good interpersonal skills and an attitude for getting stuck in to get the job done.

In a permanent role, the ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
• Trade qualification in either Mechanical Engineering or Fitting and Turning
• At least 3 years experience in an engineering maintenance role 
• Sound fault finding/problem solving experience 
• Hydraulics, pneumatics and PLC experience preferred
• General engineering and welding (TIG and MIG) skills
• Able to work unsupervised
• Developed communication skills, someone who can communicate with team members and internal customers alike
