Controls Engineer (Senior or Intermediate)

Oh to go!

Where to?

Otago of course, I’m just saying it differently.

But what if you thought about it differently. The house price difference alone could majorly affect your lifestyle, savings rate, ability to have only one person in a relationship working or working less if desired e.g., if you have young children like me.

Affordable Location:
So, do consider Dunedin (if you are not already there), it’s affordable, a beautiful place, an easy city to live in with everything you need pretty close by and with good transport links throughout the city.

Same Salary: The salary is also the same as in other parts of NZ so it is very likely you will be paid the same as if you lived in a more expensive place.

Why this Controls Engineer role?
The work itself will be interesting and exciting, this is really the only company that do this sort of cutting-edge work. Think design, installation, and commissioning of control systems, custom automated machinery design & build, robotics, and machine vision. You will have all the automation toys to play with.

And while it definitely will be a plus for you to have experience with electrical design, robotics, and machine vision, the company have dedicated people in all these areas so when it boils down to it the only experience you NEED is control systems experience, you know PLC, HMI, SCADA, networking, drives etc. if that sounds like you get in touch.

Electrical Design: They use EPlan and AutoCAD but are open to other electrical CAD package experience and are happy for someone to learn EPlan on the job.

Controls Brands: Predominantly Rockwell, but also Siemens, and GE
Robotics: Kuka and ABB
Computer Vision: C++ & Python, deep/machine learning, convolutional neural networks

Travel for Commissioning: Yes there is but not a huge amount. There could be some site work, it is not constant travel. Projects tend to be circa 12 months so travel at the end of that sort of period.

Travel to where? NZ, Australia, and the US are the most likely project locations.

Why this Company?
This is a global company giving you the opportunity to work on interesting projects in a variety of locations.
And this Dunedin office will give you the chance to work with a lot of really talented and passionate people who are leaders in their field.
