Electrical Design Engineer (Consultancy)

Are you? A Junior to Intermediate Electrical Engineer interested in an electrical design engineering consultancy role?

Location: The Company Head Office is in Central Auckland so you can commute to it from most parts of Auckland.

For who?
You will be working for an Electrical Engineering Consultancy who focus primarily on Industrial Electrical projects with some High Voltage work too. They have a long-standing reputation for quality detailed design.

Well Supported:
You will report to a very Senior Engineering Manager and also work under Senior Engineers who project manage and lead the projects, so you will be well supported and mentored to grow here.

Senior Electrical Engineers get in touch too: Senior Electrical Engineers get in touch too, as they will hire at this experience level for the right person.

Do you have Practical Electrical Experience?
Their ideal is to have someone who has some practical electrical experience e.g. an electrician who later got an electrical engineering degree.
For example, you may have worked at manufacturing plants, power stations, or another consultancy.

Design Focus:
Your work will be 80% design work but over time you will grow in doing more project management as you develop further in your career.
Approximately 80% of your work will be in the office with the remaining 20% on client sites.

In the Office
the work will include working with spreadsheets, making cable calculations and schedules, loop drawings, IO schedules, report writing, and using ETAP and Digsilent Power Factory for electrical modelling e.g. load flow.

Industrial Controls
work will typically be hardware and communications design and installation specification rather than software programming though they do have a few people who do controls programming within their other offices too.

You won’t need to do CAD drafting
as they have in-house specialist draftspeople you can hand over any sketches for them to draw up. For example, as-builts of wastewater pump stations.

Your Clients
will be large and stable companies who provide consistent workflow. For example, within Power Generation, Utilities Asset management, and various Manufacturers.

Why join this Company?

  1. You will be given a range of Industrial and HV electrical, instrumentation, and controls hardware design work. So you can broaden and deepen your knowledge.
  2. You can learn electrical modelling software ETAP and Digsilent Power Factory here if you haven’t used it before.

  7. You can grow here mentored by experienced senior engineers, your manager, and Directors.
  8. If in time you want to move somewhere else in NZ, they will explore this with you, and there are other Company offices already.
