The Opportunity:
Currently our client needs an experienced formulations officer to continue to support the innovation function and to cover for parental leave, hence this vacancy will initially run until the end of February 2023.  But that is plenty of time for someone with experience seeking to develop their career to join the business and prove themselves as critical to the business in the long term. Based at one of our client’s manufacturing plants in central Waikato – commutable from Hamilton and other satellite towns – the Formulations Officer’s key responsibilities will be to focus on robust product formulations for both existing and new products planned for manufacture.  This includes providing expert formulation support to the production team, resolving formulation related issues and assisting in process and product improvement.
You, the candidate:
As this is a critical formulations position, to be considered you will need to have some tertiary qualification in food science or technology, and at least 2 years experience in NPD in the food or dairy industry with specific responsibilities of product formulation.  While other aspects of NPD and innovation will be advantageous, your proven experience in product formulation, production troubleshooting, and data analysis.
The successful candidate will ideally possess the following attributes:

  • Degree in Food Science, Food Technology or similar
  • Minimum of 2 year’s work experience in Food Technology / NPD Experience
  • Specific food or dairy formulation experience
  • Experience working in nutritional dairy / infant formula advantageous
  • Knowledge of quality standards in food manufacturing
  • Ability to solve mathematical problems
  • Clear communication and ability to work in a team
