The Company:
Our client is a leading provider of cleaning and sanitation services to the food industry in New Zealand and are a market leader in outsourced cleaning and sanitation services specialising is high risk food and beverage plants.
The Opportunity:
With a brand new contract coming online right now, an experienced Facilities/Hygiene Manager is needed to oversee the successful delivery of our client’s services into their customer’s new facilities – a further meat processing and packing facility in South Auckland. The position will oversee a team of production cleaners, team leaders and a supervisor of about 15 staff working night shift plus a small team of 3-4 staff cleaning amenities and offices during the day and evening. This is a critical position for our client, a highly visible role leading the charge on high levels of customer service and satisfaction, as well as consistent high levels of expected standards in cleanliness for their customer, whilst meeting their own budget, reporting, and policy requirements.
You, the candidate:
Because of the nature of this opportunity, as the preferred candidate you will have previous experience at a Production, Quality or Technical Manager level in a high-risk food/beverage manufacturing environment in order to be able to understand the challenges.  But equally important will be your proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships with your clients and to manage and mentor your team.
You may be an experienced hygiene/production manager looking for a new challenge, or perhaps at a supervisor/team leader level but looking for a step up. Either way, you’ll be a ‘people-person’, able build a solid team while ensuring your customers get the best service possible. The nature of the role will mean flexibility from you in managing your work week so you will need to be a self-motivated, with good planning and time management skills. 
The ideal candidate will have the following: 

  • A relevant qualification backed up by several years’ experience in the food/beverage industry OR in factory hygiene management
  • Minimum of 5 years leadership experience within a food/beverage or similar production environment
  • Strong understanding of hygiene principles within high-risk food/beverage manufacturing and risk management
  • Proven leadership, mentoring and relationship management
  • Experience in operational planning and budgeting
  • A proven ability to drive short term planning as well as long term structural changes to improve plant efficiency
