This is a very unique opportunity to be involved in an Auckland based, Microwave R&D tech start-up company. They have already broken new ground with their working prototypes. The revolutionary nature of what they are doing means that there is a lot of opportunities for new applications of their concept that simply haven’t been done before. Inquiries have been coming in thick and fast from all over the world with interest in applications for this companies’ concept so there is huge potential here for growth globally. The company is making in-roads into significant research business partnerships, and they have setup offshore now too. A large prototype will soon be built then field trialled later this year in Napier in partnership with an established power industry company.
With this upcoming field trial, the team need someone who is a registered electrician AND can do hands-on measurement and testing of large outdoor microwave antennas.
You will set up the systems initially including the necessary power conversion equipment. You will then be taking measurements and testing the microwave antennas. For example, measuring the power in the beam, refining the beam alignment, and checking and calibrating the safety systems.
Relevant Equipment experience: AC/DC supplies, Power Inverters, Electric Field Probes, Test Antennas to probe the field, and Power Meters.

If you are an electrician with experience in microwave antennas, radar, radio, or electromagnetics, this could be a rare role to align with those interests and experience. Radio propagation, and electronics or electrical engineering experience would be valuable and of interest too.
