Secondary Systems Engineer

Our client is a smaller but growing Electricity Distribution company in the lower North Island. Because they are growing they are modernising their systems and equipment and are looking for a Secondary Systems Engineer to assist with this.

The job.
In this position, you will become our SME in network protection, control and in the increasing number smart devices connected to the network. We are looking for a person who knows new technology as well as Protection Schemes and who can help us get the most out of the data that these new systems will provide.
You’ll be responsible for overseeing the work of design consultancies and in the strategic planning of implementing these modernisation schemes.
We’re looking for someone who can also help us get the most out of the data and information these new systems will produce.

The person.
Our new Secondary Systems Engineer will:

  • Hold at least a Diploma in Electrical or Power Engineering
  • Have at least 5 years experience working in New Zealand distribution networks
  • Have thorough understanding od Protections schemes and the equipment involved (especially new technology)
  • Have experience in data analysis and the ability to extract and utilise data to meet your needs and those of others

We’re looking for someone with skills in preparing business cases, managing projects and generally in getting things done.
Good computer skills are of course a must as is great verbal and written communications abilities.
