Maintenance Inventory Controller (6 month contract)

  • Supportive manufacturing business
  • Large scale dairy production
  • South Auckland/Franklin location

The Company:
Our client is a well-established nutritional dairy manufacturer that is internationally backed and run from their state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in the North Waikato. This company is in an exciting phase, having recently taken on new clients and beginning to develop an exciting range of new product lines.
The Role:
To keep on top of their maintenance planning and scheduling, they are seeking an experienced inventory controller with proven experience in analysing an existing ERP/stock control system for maintenance/equipment spares and building this into a robust and easy to use system for the warehouse, logistics and engineering teams to on-manage.
Reporting to the Services Manager, this position will run an initial 6 month contract and requires someone with both administrative and hands-on warehousing experience – someone who understands and can work with ERP inventory management systems but is actively involved with moving stock by hand or with forklifts.
The Candidate:
As such you, the preferred candidate will have a good level of experience working within a warehouse and be familiar with stock control, inventory record management, running MRP/ERP systems (MEX, MS Dynamics Navision or equivalent SAP systems).  Your key objective is to analyse the current system and then improve it, so you’ll need to identify, plan and implement changes BUT do so with the support of the team around you.  So this means building relationships with the team and engaging with them to get the best from them too. You will need to be physically fit and have a current forklift licence to move stock, unload/load trucks etc.
Ideally you will have most if not all of the following:

  • 5+ years warehousing and inventory control experience, preferably in an FMCG environment
  • previous experience with MEX, Maximo etc as well as ERP systems like MS Dynamics AX or SAP
  • Strong time management and administration skills
  • Physically fit and active, happy to spend as much time on the warehouse floor as in the admin office
  • Familiar with inventory management software and RF barcoding systems.
  • Able to identify improvement opportunities and implement these
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to work under fast pace environment.
  • Willing to learn attitude

The last point is as important as the first and the reward to you is to work with a progressive and dynamic business, led by experienced managers that know that leadership is about listening to their team.
This is an initial 6 month contract role but our client is rapidly expanding so further opportunity may become available
