Technical Sales Engineer

Technical Sales Engineer – Lower North Island

Who am I looking for? Degree qualified chemical process engineers or mechanical engineers typically have the technical background we want.

Plus, existing relevant experience in technical sales is ideal too obviously.

However, if you are an engineer with the right aptitude for sales then do inquire too, they just hired someone without it and the company do offer excellent internal training via their own quite well-regarded platform.

We do want someone technically astute with engineering principles (e.g., thermodynamics & valving) as you will be going and finding your own opportunities. You will also be someone who can speak comfortably to people at various levels of management.

How do the benefits stack up?
Like this: You will be offered a base salary, commission, car allowance, discretionary bonus, a fuel card (for personal use around town), Health Insurance , & 3% Kiwisaver…. Whew, quite a list there.

Where is this based? There are two parts to this question.
1 WFH Location: This is a Work from Home role. You will be on the road visiting customer sites or doing reporting etc. at home. You will be heavily supported by your manager, an internal technical support team, and design engineers.

2 But where can I live? The sales region for this role is the Lower North Island, covering the Hawkes Bay, across to Taranaki, and down to Wellington.

So ideally you will live in Palmerston North, the Hawkes Bay, New Plymouth or somewhere in this general Lower North Island region.

The Role
You will be offering steam solutions on behalf of a well-regarded global company. So, think valving, heat recovery solutions, how to reduce carbon footprint, reduce exhaust steam vents, save water, reduce chemical usage, insulate systems (to minimise heat loss), recover steam condensate, and recycle steam back into system etc.

You will work with a Service Technician (Fitter) in your region too. Sometimes together and sometimes separately depending on the size and nature of the job.

This role is reporting to the North Island Team Leader who is very technical and is a Chemical Process Engineer, apparently this person would be an excellent mentor, someone that would foster learning and growth, and this person has been with the company for about 10 years.
