This is a well-established and high growth Electrical Engineering and Automation Systems Integration company who specialise in delivering projects across a wide variety of sectors and system platforms in this technical niche.
You will join a small Sales / Consulting team made up of two very longstanding Directors and a Client Facing Estimator. The two Directors in this team have a focus on high end BDM dealing with major clients e.g., at the Plant Manager up to CEO level. The need right now is to have someone come in to work alongside their Estimator and drive project sales through to their engineers. This is likely to be with clients at the Engineering Manager sort of level. Having said this if you are capable and experienced at a higher BDM and consulting level you are welcome to the party too.
You need to be genuine, and someone who knows what to say to a client when you don’t have the answer yourself. You will be supported by a team of technically savvy engineers who will likely know that answer, and you can also move a conversation towards recommending a client consulting hours with the Directors so that a project scope and solution can be tailor made.
Ideally you will be someone who has experience with a structured sales approach, and you will know how to close a deal, follow up, and ask the right questions.
The sales approach here is not pushy, it is more soft and consultative solution selling, with the aim of providing the best project solution for a client. Client relationships are longstanding and maintained. This is also a company with hundreds of potential clients, so the scope of work for you here is only limited by you and your drive to get out there and grow the business.
This is a B2B company, so this role is about relationships. Building new relationships and maintaining existing relationships. It is about listening, keeping clients happy, and being part of delivering a project solution.
This company is open to people from a wide variety of backgrounds if you can do or quickly learn to do this job. A background in Technical Sales and/or Consulting plus a technical background in Software (e.g., ERP), Industrial Controls, or Electrical Engineering could mesh well here. You will have to know what a PLC control system is and have at least some knowledge about some of these technical areas, although you can be trained to a certain extent too.

- Understanding of Manufacturing & Production
- ERP and CRM Software Experience would be valuable e.g., they use Microsoft Dynamics
