Our client is one of New Zealand’s largest laboratory and medical device suppliers. With a strong reputation for providing their customers with quality solutions, they have grown a significant market share within the research, clinical and industrial laboratory sectors.

About the role
In this varied role (available due to an internal promotion), you will manage all our client’s industrial business across NZ, maintaining existing customer accounts (food, beverage, dairy & pharmaceutical manufacturing business + commercial laboratories) and growing their market share.

This role is a general sales role, in that you will be representing our client’s products and suppliers within the industrial market. You will be the first line of contact with customers for information, prices, tech support and service – talking to a varied range of people in different environments about a large range of products. As such, you need to be able to think on your feet and be reliable at following up.

This is a great opportunity so step into a Territory / Account Manager position with an established client base. The position can be based at our clients Auckland offices or from a home office in the Waikato as this is where most of your accounts will be located. You will also be expected to spend approximately 3-4 days every 4-6 weeks visiting clients in the South Island and upper North Island.

Skills/ experience
This role combines your technical and sales experience, along with your interpersonal and organisational skills. You’ll also need to bring a positive and friendly attitude to fit into the collaborative and accepting culture this company strives for.

In addition, preferred candidates will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Tertiary qualification in Microbiology or similar
  • Laboratory experience is preferred
  • Sales experience, entrepreneurial and commercial acumen; strong negotiation skills
  • Micro testing experience
  • Knowledge of the NZ Scientific Market and competition
  • Proven interpersonal and professional relationship building skills
  • Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills
  • Positive and collaborative team player
  • Self-motivated and autonomous
