Our client is a multinational company who specialise in Water Treatment chemicals, pre-treatment and dosing equipment sales, supply, and servicing. Their products and services are provided nationally with teams spread across the country.
Their customers are generally large Industrial/Commercial customers. e.g. Dairy, Food & Beverage, Healthcare & Pharmaceuticals, Wood Processing, Brewing & Distilling and all industry sectors that utilise steam and cooling water in their processes.

This is a Water Treatment Service Technician role that covers the Top of the South Island so if Nelson or Blenheim are where you live or want to live then read on.
We are after someone who is already involved in one of the below fields;
– Water Treatment Technical Sales and Servicing
– Steam Boilers Maintenance
– Refrigeration Plant Maintenance
– Lab Technician
– Chemical Sales and Servicing
– Customer Servicing in Related Engineering Applications
You will have existing industry specific knowledge and ideally a strong technical aptitude combined with good people skills. This role is a viable long-term career path with a market leading company. Over tme the role will grow to also include product sales in addition to service work, once you are familiar with the company products etc.
Training will be given but you will need to be someone who can work confidently on your own. The work will primary involve scheduled visits cycling through different customer sites to service their boiler, cooling water and/closed loop water systems, carry out testing, and identifying and recommending relevant company products to improve a site’s operating efficiency. There will be some, but minimal, breakdown/emergency call outs to customer sites.
You will need to be self-motivated, driven, and take initiative to plan your own work ahead of time and someone who can work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Travel: With the different areas being serviced, overnight travel away is minimal compared to a lot of technical sales/technician roles.
Technically you will make visits to customer sites to perform water analysis on steam producing and cooling plants, check the correct functioning of dosing and monitoring systems for large industrial plants and hospitals. This will involve taking samples, testing, sending samples to a lab, and writing on-site reports/specialist recommendations for chemical and mechanical products and services.
The role involves talking with the customer about what changes need to be made, assessing their equipment and processes to see whether efficiency can be boosted by providing equipment, operating advice, or maintenance improvements. You also need to be someone who can gain rapport with customers who will generally be Engineering Managers, Production Managers, or Production Operators.
Does This Sound Like you?
- Tertiary qualification in a related field e.g. engineering, chemistry, chemical engineering, biology, boiler-making is desired. e.g. AIRAH or ENCHEM
- Ideally exposure to: Chemical testing, Steam, Boilers, Steam, Condensate loop technology, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Electrical work, or large Mechanical Equipment
- Customer Service skills and excellent communication
- NZ Citizen or NZ Permanent Resident
- Full NZ Car Drivers License
