The Company: Our client is a well-established nutritional dairy manufacturer that is internationally backed and run from their state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in the North Waikato.
This company is in an exciting phase, having recently taken on new clients and beginning to develop an exciting range of new product lines. To support their growing team and operations, our client is searching for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to drive a positive safety culture across the business.

The Role: Playing a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety and wellbeing across the business, the Health & Safety Manager will lead the development and execution of the annual H&S strategy while ensuring site compliance with all relevant legislation.
Key responsibilities will cover:
- Safety Leadership: Champion safety initiatives and lead the drive for continuous improvement. Be the go-to contact for all health and safety matters across the business.
- Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement the annual H&S strategy in collaboration with the GM, People & Capability. Ensure our policies are always aligned with best practices and legal standards.
- Policy & Risk Management: Regularly review safety policies, conduct risk assessments, and lead training for staff and managers. Ensure safe operational procedures are in place and well-documented.
- Audits & Compliance: Conduct internal audits, monitor compliance with health and safety legislation, and create actionable improvement plans.
- Health & Safety Systems: Manage our Health & Safety Management System (HSMS), maintaining accurate incident records and producing regular safety reports.
- Rehabilitation & Support: Monitor injury cases, manage rehabilitation processes, and collaborate with medical professionals to support employees’ recovery and return to work.
- Health & Safety Committee Support: Mentor Health & Safety Representatives and provide expert guidance on health and safety-related matter
This is an onsite role, Monday-Friday.
You, the Candidate: Bringing a strong background in manufacturing / GMP environments, the ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and promote sitewide positive thinking towards H&S.
They will also bring the following skills and attributes:
- A Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health, Occupational safety & Health, or Workplace Health & Safety Management (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an FMCG environment
- Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation (HSWA 2015)
- Experience in conducting risk assessments, training, and safety audits
- Strong Microsoft office skills and exposure to ERP systems
- Familiarity with MS Dynamics or NAV is advantageous
