About the Role
We’re recruiting an Industrial Electrician to join the site maintenance team, supporting process, utilities, and packaging assets in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on role focused on electrical fault finding, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement. You’ll work closely with mechanical fitters, operators, and engineers to keep production equipment running safely and efficiently.
The site is moving to a continuous 24/7 operation. In the short term, you’ll be on day shift while training, before transitioning to a 4 on / 4 off roster (12-hour shifts, days and nights).
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical preventative and reactive maintenance across process, utility, and packaging equipment
- Fault finding on automated production lines, drives, motors, and control systems
- Maintain and troubleshoot PLC / SCADA-controlled plant and equipment
- Electrical support for packaging lines, powder handling, evaporators, dryers, and utilities
- Work on plant services including steam, refrigeration, compressed air, and water systems
- Identify and implement reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
- Record maintenance activities through the CMMS
- Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards
- Support shutdowns, upgrades, and commissioning activities
Skills & Experience
- Trade-qualified Industrial Electrician (NZ registered or equivalent)
- Experience in high-speed manufacturing environments is essential
- Background in dairy, food, beverage, or FMCG manufacturing preferred
- Strong fault-finding skills across motors, drives, sensors, instrumentation, and control systems
- Working knowledge of PLC / SCADA systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
- Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation
- Comfortable working rotating day/night shifts in a 24/7 operation
- Strong safety mindset and commitment to GMP standards
