Reliability and Planning Manager

We are looking for an experienced Reliability and Planning Manager to drive reliability strategy, maintenance excellence and asset lifecycle performance for a well-established dairy processing company based on the West Coast
Role Overview
Reporting to the Maintenance and Services Manager, this role leads a team of 7 direct reports across a large, complex dairy processing site. You will take ownership of site-wide reliability, maintenance strategy and asset management practices, ensuring equipment runs safely, efficiently and cost-effectively. You will lead the maintenance support functions (planning, scheduling and engineering stores), drive loss elimination and risk management, and partner closely with Operations, Engineering and Technical teams to deliver sustainable asset performance.
This is a senior leadership role combining technical authority with people leadership, ideal for someone with a strong reliability engineering background looking to make a real impact in a large-scale FMCG/dairy manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a reliability, conditioning, & maintenance planning team
- Develop and continuously improve site reliability and maintenance strategies aligned with business priorities
- Track and improve key reliability metrics (MTBF, OEE, downtime, cost of failure)
- Lead Root Cause Problem Elimination (RCPE) investigations into significant failures and chronic losses
- Own preventive and predictive maintenance strategy, standards, job plans and equipment hierarchies
- Lead critical asset and lifecycle management, including capital renewal recommendations
- Drive planning, scheduling and engineering stores governance, improving backlog management, schedule attainment and inventory accuracy
- Build strong cross-functional relationships with Operations, Engineering, Utilities and Technical teams, and influencing contractors and suppliers
Candidate Requirements
To be successful in the role you will have:
- Tertiary engineering qualification (Mechanical preferred)
- Significant experience in reliability engineering, maintenance strategy or asset management
- Demonstrated people leadership and capability development experience
- Strong understanding of maintenance planning, scheduling and CMMS systems
- Proven experience leading loss elimination, RCPE and reliability improvement initiatives
- Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder influence skills
- Experience in manufacturing environments, food or dairy preferred
