Business Development Manager

Are you a natural hunter who thrives on opening doors, building relationships, and selling tailored technical solutions?

This is a rare opportunity to join a large, globally successful organisation, one that continues to grow through acquisition and has a strong and supportive team culture

Our client is a well-established player in the modified container and mobile storage solutions space, servicing industries including mining, defence, energy, resources, government and retail across New Zealand. With over 25 years of local presence and the backing of a large American parent company, they offer genuine job security, significant CAPEX support for projects, and a leadership team that is genuinely invested in developing its people.

As the business continues to diversify and grow, they are investing heavily in their people, their customers, and their future. As such, we are looking for a new Business Development Manager to join the Auckland based team.

The Role
We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to be responsible for actively hunting new sales and working with existing clients through face-to-face engagement across New Zealand. This is a true solutions-selling role – you will work closely with estimating, engineering and production teams to design and pitch bespoke, innovative container solutions that solve real customer problems.

Specifically, you will:

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to target key industries and open new business opportunities through proactive prospecting and networking
  • Deep-dive into customer needs and present tailored, value-driven technical solutions; including pricing, timelines and scope
  • Partner with estimating, engineering and production teams to ensure proposed solutions are feasible and deliverable
  • Maintain accurate pipeline reporting, forecasting and customer activity within Salesforce CRM
  • Lead negotiations and close sales, ensuring terms are documented and expectations are clearly set
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify new growth opportunities

To be successful in the role, you will be someone who enjoys getting in front of customers and takes ownership of your results.

Ideally you will have:

  • Proven success in outbound, solution-based business development. You are a genuine hunter, not just an account manager
  • Proven ability to sell complex, customised solutions and manage long, multi-stakeholder sales cycles
  • Strong technical aptitude, comfortable understanding products and translating technical concepts for non-technical clients
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • A collaborative, team-first mindset – happy to support colleagues and share knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or related field desirable
  • CRM proficiency (Salesforce or similar) and strong organisational skills

Being a sales role, this role requires travel and being a holder of a clean New Zealand driver’s licence.
