About the company
Our client is a multinational manufacturer of pharmaceutical products.  A mainstay of the Animal Health industry for over 70 years in New Zealand, their Wellington site is currently going to a major expansion project to significantly increase the capacity of their facility in order to continue to supply sterile bacterial vaccines for the global market.

About the role
Reporting to the Site Maintenance Manager, and as part of a large maintenance team, this role is responsible for all contractor interaction, direction and permission to work on site.  This includes, scheduling of contractors to access the site, full inductions, permit to work issuing and close out, and inspections of completed work.  On a site with many hazards, this position needs to ensure that risk is mitigated at all times and act to remove contractors who do not adhere to the company’s risk management policies.

This position will need to interact with colleagues across the engineering, manufacturing and site services teams and so you will be expected to build and maintain strong working relationships with each of these and with new and regular contractors.  As the facility manufactures to high levels of compliance, the role needs to maintain documentation of all work undertaken and it goes without saying that health and safety regulations must be adhered to.

You, the candidate:
As a preferred candidate, you will have a working knowledge of NZ WorkSafe practices and previous experience in maintaining these in a manufacturing, construction or heavy industry environment.  You will have excellent people engagement skills and have experience in providing clear instructions – both verbal and written – to people who may not be familiar with a site.  Ideally you will have some level of background in NZ Health and Safety. You will have experience working with contractors – electricians, service technicians, pest control, project engineers etc. – and be familiar with the risks likely to be exposed to these people.

You will be computer literate, have excellent record keeping and time management skills. Previous experience in a regulated manufacturing environment will also be an advantage.  Above all, you will have an outgoing and friendly personality who is able to interact positively with all personality types in all conditions.

Benefits:
Our client offers competitive salaries including many benefits (higher than usual KiwiSaver contributions, various insurances etc.). This position works a normal working week, though some flexibility may be required due to the nature of the operations.
