Engineering Sales Manager
We’re looking for a Sales Manager, with strong technical acumen, to lead a specialist team by example in selling complex technical solutions to industrial clients across New Zealand.
This is a newly defined position based in Auckland and designed to bring focus and structure to an already capable team. You’ll step into a key leadership role where you’ll be guiding nine people in total, all focused on delivering high-value, engineered mechanical solutions.
The Role
As Sales Manager, you’ll lead the technical sales function of a national product group providing several specialist heavy industrial plant products.
You’ll guide a sales team working on a wide range of projects, combining client engagement, commercial review, and technical oversight. Working closely with your General Manager, you’ll help shape the team’s professional approach to proposals, margins, and delivering quality. This is a leadership role that blends commercial drive with mechanical insight and team coaching, all within a supportive environment undergoing positive transformation.
You will:
- Manage and support a team of 9 sales professionals
- Oversee proposals for projects ranging from $50k to over $1M, with the potential for more
- Work with long-term industrial clients on repeat business
- Improve proposal quality, sales process, and commercial outcomes
- Collaborate with service and engineering teams to ensure successful project handovers
The Company
Our client is a long-established, values-driven New Zealand engineering business supplying customised mechanical solutions to major industrial sectors. This is a company where people stay for years many for 5, 10, even 20+ years, because they believe in the quality of the work.
The team culture is down-to-earth and client-focused, with a strong reputation for delivering premium products, tailored solutions, and responsive service. You won’t be competing on price, you’ll be selling value.
The Auckland office is undergoing a period of change, creating an opportunity for a new Sales Manager to bring leadership, structure, and renewed energy to the team. You’ll be joining a business with loyal customers, strong internal knowledge, and a clear direction for future growth.
What’s in It for You?
