About the Company:
Our client is one of most successful partners to many heavy industry sectors in New Zealand. More recently they have extended their business across into Australia with 500 professionals working between both countries. The company has grown based on its reputation for providing excellent levels of service and expertise on major industrial projects, particularly where those projects need a high level of vision and strategy.

With the headquarters in New Plymouth (where this role is based), the company manages major projects across Australia and New Zealand.

The Opportunity:
We are looking for an experienced industrial project manager to strategically oversee major projects while playing an active role in supporting the Major Projects team to ensure they meet the expectations of their clients. Reporting to the Managing Director and as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, this is a pivotal role within the company where you will contribute to the sustainable growth of the business, integrate process and systems improvements, and continue to mentor and support your team.

You, the candidate:
As the most senior projects manager, you will have a tertiary engineering qualification and proven experience at a senior leadership level delivering complex industrial projects, across a variety of sectors. You will bring your blend of technical engineering expertise with your strategic leadership, be able to actively engage with colleagues, customers and suppliers, and positively promote ways to improve company capabilities.

As a preferred candidate you will have/be:

  • A tertiary qualification in engineering or management (CPEng would be advantageous)
  • Significant hands-on project management experience with proven delivery success
  • At least 10 years senior/leadership experience of major projects/project teams
  • Experience managing projects across several industry engineering sectors
  • Strong strategic management style, able to drive new innovation, lean improvements etc
  • Highly effective communicator – able to influence people across the hierarchy
  • Highly visible, approachable and supportive
  • Process driven, driving new ideas and solutions for clients
