Industrial Electrician
This opportunity sits within a well-established engineering business delivering fabrication, installation, and servicing work across heavy industry and infrastructure projects.
The work is practical and varied, often running from workshop-based work through to installation and testing on client sites.
The Role
You’ll join a small, highly skilled team of five tradespeople – one electrician and four mechanical fitters – working across industrial equipment and engineering projects.
Your work will focus on industrial electrical systems and plant, including:
- Working with electromechanical equipment, including motors, VSDs, gantry/overhead cranes, conveyors and automated machinery
- Electrical maintenance, installation, and servicing work
- Fault finding and troubleshooting on industrial systems
- Electrical work associated with plant upgrades and servicing
- Working closely with a team of fitters, including mechanical tasks
This is a practical role suited to an electrician who enjoys hands-on work and being involved in mechanical systems as well as electrical.
Travel
Site travel is required, typically overnight travel around once per week, depending on project schedules.
Ideal Experience
- NZ Electrical Registration and a current practising license.
- Hands-on experience with electromechanical and mechanical components (happy to swing spanners, not just screwdrivers).
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Comfortable working alongside mechanical trades teams
- A practical, problem-solving approach
- Willingness for frequent travel and support site work
