The Client:
Baker Boys are passionate about creating delicious Kiwi and Australian bakery favourites, from pies to biscuits and slices. With exciting new projects on the horizon, they’re on the lookout for a driven graduate/junior Food Technologist to join their growing Technical team.

About the Role:
This entry-level position offers a fantastic opportunity for a graduate or junior Food Tech eager to develop their skills in product development, food safety, and quality. You’ll work closely with Technical, Quality Assurance, Sales, and Operations teams, assisting in creating new products, refining existing formulations, and ensuring products meet industry standards and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Development: Assist in developing and testing new bakery products, including recipe formulation, ingredient sourcing, and sensory evaluation
  • Product Data Management: Support the sales team with accurate product information, including formulation records, ingredient data, and product specifications. Ensure compliance with food safety and labelling regulations.
  • Quality & Compliance: Troubleshoot product issues and help ensure products meet both internal and external quality standards. Assist with audits and inspections.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams on continuous improvement projects and new product designs, including packaging.

You, the Candidate:
Baker Boys are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented individual with a strong passion for food science and production. The successful candidate will excel at analysing data, solving problems, and ensuring the accuracy of documentation and records.

The successful candidate will also possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering, or related field (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Strong understanding of food production processes, ingredient functionality, and product development.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and product labelling requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP/product data management software is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data management skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
