Maintenance Engineer – Brisbane

The Company:
Our client is a growing food manufacturer processing a wide range of products across their three production facilities in Hastings, Tauranga and now in Brisbane. The Brisbane site runs primarily as a contract manufacturing facility with multiple project lines making everything from pizza dough, finger food, stocks, sauces, soups, to ready meals. Their modern facility has capacity to grow and with new contracts coming in the indications are good.
 
The vacancy:
The business recently moving from outsourcing all their servicing requirements to having a full-time maintenance engineer who oversees all routine/planned and breakdown maintenance, being involved with equipment upgrades and implementing reliability improvement initiatives.  The plant operates on a 5 day single shift basis at present and so this position will work a normal working week.
 
Typical equipment you will be maintaining will include boilers, kettles, retort equipment, spiral freezers, packaging machines, conveyors etc.
 
Expected applicants:
To be considered for this role you will need to be trade qualified with several years of hands-on maintenance engineering experience within a food, dairy or similar manufacturing sector. While having dual trade (mechanical and electrical) will be advantageous, we are open to candidates with strong mechanical experience and able to draw on external electrical contractors when needed.  Ideally you will have worked in a small to medium production plant where you are flexible in managing your time to cover a wide range of responsibilities. 
 
PLEASE NOTE: This role is based in Brisbane so you must be prepared to relocate to this location AND have the work rights for being employed in Australia (i.e. Australian permanent residency or citizenship, or New Zealand citizenship).
 
 
To be a serious candidate you will ideally have the following:

  • Trade qualified in either electrical or mechanical maintenance
  • Minimum of 5 year hands on experience in mechanical maintenance
  • Electrical registration beneficial (EST A&B or full)
  • Broad hands-on experience with mechanical, pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Fitting, turning and welding experience
  • Maintenance planning, contractor management
  • Specific experience in the food, dairy or pharmaceutical experience would be beneficial
