Maintenance Engineer

Join a world-leading manufacturing operation based in Gisborne! We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to be part of a highly automated, cutting-edge facility producing engineered timber products. This is an advanced manufacturing environment with state-of-the-art automation, robotics, and control systems. We’re looking for either maintenance fitters, electricians or a dual trade / millwright for these positions.

This is a great chance to join a growing company at the forefront of advanced manufacturing as they move to 24/7 production.

This is a 12hr rotating shift pattern of 4 on / 4 off (2 days, 2 nights).

The Role

You will play a key role in operating, maintaining, and continuously improving an advanced production process.
Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Operate and maintain a fully automated production line.
  • Troubleshoot and repair machine centres, minimising downtime.
  • Conduct quality control checks and ensure compliance with production standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and engage in preventative maintenance to optimise plant performance.
  • Work collaboratively in a high-performance, skilled workforce – no general machine operators here!
  • Diagnose and repair faults in PLC-controlled systems (if electrical) and automated production lines.
  • Be flexible to attend callouts outside normal shift hours when required.

Ideal Experience

  • Qualified as a Millwright / Multiskilled TechnicianElectrician or Fitter
  • Experience in industrial maintenance, automation, or advanced continuous manufacturing.
  • Experienced with Automated production machinery
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with an interest in process improvement.
