This is a modern, growing high-volume dairy manufacturing site producing premium nutritional powders for export markets. Soon to be operating 24/7 with state-of-the-art process and packaging technology, the facility integrates high levels of automation, precision control, and hygiene compliance expected of a world-class dairy producer.

About the Role

As a Shift Fitter / Maintenance Technician, you’ll support plant uptime and reliability across process, utility, and packaging systems. This is a site where everyone rolls their sleeves up and so you’ll focus on mechanical work, but will get involved an assist electricians when needed, so having an EST or similar is a big advantage. This includes scheduled, reactive, and improvement maintenance in a continuous operation. You’ll work alongside experienced operators, engineers, and process technicians, helping to maintain equipment performance within strict food-grade and safety standards.

They are growing the team and the site is moving to a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern (12 hour shifts, 2 days, 2 nights), which will be in place next year. Short term, you’ll work 4 on, 3 off 10 hour shifts, mostly days, with some afternoon shifts before the plant transitions to a new 24/7 roster.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventative and reactive maintenance on process, utility, and packaging systems
  • Diagnose and repair faults in automated systems, drives, sensors, and instrumentation
  • Maintain and optimise CIP systems, evaporators, dryers, powder handling, and packaging equipment
  • Support operation and maintenance of steam, refrigeration, compressed air, and water services
  • Participate in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives to reduce unplanned downtime
  • Record maintenance activities using the CMMS, ensuring traceability and compliance
  • Uphold strict food safety, hygiene, and safety standards in all work
  • Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams during shift operations and shutdowns

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified Maintenance Fitter, Maintenance Engineer or Dual Trade
  • Maintenance Technician / Fitter experience from a high speed manufacturing environment is essential
  • Industrial maintenance experience within the dairy, food, or beverage manufacturing sector is ideal
  • Good understanding of PLC / SCADA driven production environments
  • Practical mechanical aptitude across pumps, valves, conveyors, gearboxes, and pneumatics
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic ability under pressure
  • Willingness to work shifts (days/nights) within a 24/7 operation
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and GMP standards
