Maintenance Fitter

HIGH SPEED, HIGH DEMAND
This company is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of beverage cans, supplying major beverage brands across New Zealand and beyond. Their Wiri, Auckland facility is a large-scale, highly automated site running some of the most advanced high-speed can-forming, printing, and packaging lines in the country, producing 1000s of cans every minute. Backed by a global parent group, this is a business that invests heavily in its plant, its technology, and its people.

KEEP PRODUCTION HUMMING
This is a workshop-based role at heart. Rather than being tied to the line, you’ll be based in the on-site workshop carrying out the deeper repairs on parts and components that come off the production line – the jobs that need a proper bench, the right tooling, and a skilled set of hands to put right.
You’ll be responsible for:

  • Diagnosing and repairing worn or damaged parts and components removed from can-forming, printing, and packaging equipment
  • Manual turning and milling to repair or remanufacture components
  • Welding and fabrication work as part of repairs and modifications
  • General engineering tasks – measuring, machining, fitting, and precision assembly
  • Liaising with the line-based maintenance team to prioritise and turn around workshop jobs
  • Recording work completed through the site’s CMMS
  • Supporting continuous improvement and reliability initiatives

Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 6am starts, 8-hour shifts – no rotating roster and no weekend work as standard.

WHAT’S ON OFFER

  • $44-46 per hour base rate
  • Additional allowances and overtime rates on top of base pay
  • Monday to Friday, day-shift only – genuine work-life balance
  • Join a global packaging leader with genuine long-term career pathways
  • Modern, well-equipped workshop and facility
  • Supportive team environment with experienced Engineers and Fitters

If you’re a workshop-based Fitter with strong turning, milling, and welding skills, and you’re looking for day-shift stability with a well-established global manufacturer, this is a great next step in your career.
