Maintenance Fitter
We’re recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Fitter / Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing operation in Gisborne. The site is launching a new night-shift in early September to meet growing customer demand, and we need two skilled Fitters / Maintenance Engineers to help make it happen.
This is a critical role covering both reactive and preventative maintenance – supporting breakdowns and ensuring machinery stays running in a fast-moving production environment.

About the Role
This is a hands-on, roaming fitter position focused with the opportunity to work on both reactive and preventative maintenance across a complex, high-speed site.
You’ll work on a wide range of equipment, including:
- Gearboxes, conveyors, loaders
- Pneumatics and hydraulics
- Machinery alignments and rebuilds
The environment is fast-paced and physical – ideal for someone who thrives under pressure, enjoys variety, and is confident solving problems on the go.
Shift Pattern
This is a true Night Shift Pattern, Monday to Thursday (finishing Friday morning)
Exact hours are still being confirmed, approx. 11hrs per night for 4 days. Averaging 45 – 50hrs per week.

What You’ll Bring
- Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter or Maintenance Engineer
- Proven experience in heavy industry – timber, FMCG, manufacturing or similar
- Good fitting skills, including lathe operation and machining
- Fabrication and welding capability
- Strong skills in alignment, tolerance work, and diagnostics
- Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes & other similar plant equipment
- A good trouble shooter – someone with close attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
- Positive attitude, good communication, and strong work ethic
