Mechanical Design Coordinator

Our client is a well-established leader in their niche field of design, in-house build, and international export of specialist and complex heavy machinery. An abundance of work orders has led to this opportunity for a position of Mechanical Design Coordinator to join the team, based in the Bay of Plenty.
 
The Role
The role is part of the engineering design team to ensure the provision of all engineering support information for design through to production. In a nutshell, the role is to allow the mechanical design engineers to focus solely on mechanical design. (Ideally suiting someone with proven mechanical design experience and maybe has gotten out of, or desires to get out of, solely mechanical design).
 
Specifically, you will:

  • Generate drawing packs and design documentation
  • Create new parts and BOMs
  • Be responsible for Engineering Change Orders and ERP system management
  • Develop SOPs and manufacturing drawings
  • Analyse processes and recommend improvements
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives

To be successful in the role you will:

  • Be a tertiary qualified Mechanical or Mechatronics engineer (preferred)
  • Have previous design experience with heavy machinery plant working with BOMs, ECOs and ERP systems
  • Be proficient in AutoCAD Inventor
  • Have proven experience with the manufacturing fabrication processes

You will be a genuine people person with strong communication skills, a self-starter, diligent in your work and a natural problem solver who just gets on with it, being comfortable working in a team or working autonomously.
