Mechanical Design Engineer

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to design high tech bespoke machinery, from single, specialised machinery to automated, large scale production lines, involved in research to concept design, through to manufacture. Seeking to expand the design team, this role offers the chance to work on innovative machinery, bringing cutting-edge designs to life in one of New Zealand’s premier industrial regions.

The Role
As the Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be a pivotal contributor to high-value projects, working alongside a multidisciplinary team. You will:

  • Design & Implement Solutions: Research and design high tech innovative machinery taking client concepts and specifications and converting these to customised solutions.
  • Produce Detailed Drawings: Using SolidWorks produce 3D models, detailed drawings, BOMS, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Oversee Manufacturing: Work with manufacturing to see designs through to completion, ensuring high quality production.
  • Provide Technical Advice: Provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and drive improvements in equipment and processes.

Experience Required

  • Technical Expertise: Significant experience in the design of automated machinery.
  • Qualifications: A relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, or similar.
  • SolidWorks Proficiency: Proven experience working with SolidWorks 2D and 3D, including detailed drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Manufacturing Processes: Working experience of manufacturing processes, seeing design through to manufacture, testing and completion.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
