Mechanical Product Development Engineer

We are looking for a Mechanical Product Development Engineer to join a highly regarded organisation that specialises in the design and development of high-tech electronic products. This is your chance to work on unique, high-impact projects from concept, through testing to manufacture, making a tangible difference in a collaborative environment.

This role is an addition to a high performing team, based in the Christchurch, driven by a surge in work orders and growing demand.

The Role
In this role you will provide engineering expertise to understand and meet the clients’ needs and undertake mechanical product design and development work on bespoke projects, from concept through to production.

You will:

  • Work with clients to understand their needs
  • Undertake mechanical design, including mechanical componentry and plastic design
  • Create and test prototypes, including 3D printing
  • Troubleshoot and resolve challenges with practical engineering solutions
  • Offer technical support across all project stages

Ideal Experience

  • Tertiary Engineering qualification (Mechanical / Mechatronics)
  • Proven experience with product development
  • Experience with plastic moulding design
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks
  • A solutions-focused mindset and excellent written and communication skills
  • Be able to work both in a team environment and autonomously
