Excellent opportunity here with a busy nationwide PM consultancy, who provide independent project management and advisory services across a wide range of sectors from vertical (commercial) to civil and water infrastructure work. As a business, they invest in their people and systems, and they’re known for delivering projects with integrity for long term repeat clients.

They’re planning ahead for 2027 and are looking to connect with a strong Project Manager to join their Napier team.

About the Role

You’ll be responsible for the delivery of meaningful projects across the Hawke’s Bay as an independent project manager, representing your clients’ interests from initiation through to completion. You’ll be working with an experienced, supportive team, with a nationwide network of colleagues to draw on, and for the right person, there’s room to step up and lead a team in the future.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver projects from start to finish, meeting programme, budget and quality outcomes
  • Act as the trusted, independent client-side point of contact
  • Manage consultants, contractors, stakeholders and project reporting
  • Develop and maintain project programmes, budgets and risk management
  • Contribute to the growth of the Napier team and grow/maintain brand presence

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong project management experience – 3-5+ years delivering construction projects in New Zealand (ideally on your own)
  • Previous consultancy-side experience (preferred)
  • Experience on government sector projects (preferred, though not essential)
  • Strong leadership qualities, with the potential to lead a team in future
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication and numerical skills
  • Strong computer literacy, including MS Office and MS Project
  • A proactive, self-driven approach and the ability to deliver in complex situations
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in building, construction, engineering or a related field
