Project Manager
Our client is a leading provider of industrial electrical and instrumentation services, specialising in installation, commissioning, project management, maintenance and servicing across the geothermal, hydro, solar and wider power generation sectors.
With a reputation for technical excellence, strong client relationships and investing in their people, the company has many diverse and interesting projects under their belt, and in the pipeline. As such, the company is in growth mode, and we are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join the team, based in Taupo.
The Role
You will be responsible for managing projects from initiation through to successful completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Specifically, you will:
- Manage multiple industrial projects from planning through to completion.
- Develop project plans, schedules, methodologies and resource plans.
- Manage project budgets, forecasting, variations and cost control.
- Lead project teams, subcontractors and internal trades to achieve successful outcomes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Ensure projects meet health and safety, compliance and quality requirements.
- Identify and manage project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, reporting and change management processes.
- Monitor project performance and communicate progress to stakeholders.
- Resolve issues proactively while maintaining a solutions-focused approach.
This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of the project management function, working on significant industrial projects while helping shape the future growth of the business.
About You
You will be an experienced Project Manager with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects in industrial environments.
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience managing industrial electrical projects
- A strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, even if you don’t hold an electrical qualification. (Experience delivering mechanical or civil projects with significant electrical components will also be considered)
- Excellent project planning, scheduling and organisational skills.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, variations and project profitability.
- Confident leadership skills with the ability to make decisions and address challenges directly.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and well-developed documentation skills.
- A commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
- A full New Zealand driver’s licence.
An Electrical trade qualification is highly desirable; however, we welcome applications from experienced project managers with a strong industrial electrical background.
