The Opportunity: The Quality Specialist will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the implementation of quality systems, food safety management, risk management program, and continuous improvement strategies throughout the manufacturing plant. It will play a key role in ensuring compliance with various standards, drive process improvement, and support plant operations.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Quality & Food Safety: Provide training on GMP, quality, and food safety to operators, and assist with quality issue investigations and customer complaint resolutions.
  • HACCP & Risk Management: Develop and maintain HACCP plans, ensure food safety systems are effective, and monitor control points.
  • Pest Management: Liaise with pest control providers to monitor pest management and maintain records.
  • Pathogen Surveillance: Lead the development and implementation of pathogen management programs, ensuring thorough testing and documentation.
  • Calibration & Testing: Oversee the calibration and maintenance of testing instruments and ensure accurate testing results.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Support health, safety, and environmental risk management plans, ensuring a safe and compliant workplace.
  • Relationship Management: Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, contributing to a positive work culture.

 
You, the Candidate: To be considered for this role, you must bring at least 2 years of QA or QC experience in a dairy or food manufacturing environment. Knowledge of OSH and performance improvement would be desirable, along with the following skills and attributes:

  • Experience supporting the implementation and review of processes and procedures to improve efficiencies and compliance
  • Maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience in calibrating testing instrumentation and performing a range of food quality tests e.g. Sensory, raw milk quality analysis, environmental swabbing
  • Investigating and resolving quality issues
  • Conducting internal audits
  • Willingness to engage with and learn Tikanga Maori
