Quantity Surveyor – Hamilton

There’s plenty happening in Hamilton and the wider Waikato construction market right now, from infrastructure through to vertical building and we’re starting to finally see shoots of growth.

The Role

I’m recruiting on behalf of a well-established Hamilton-based main contractor for an experienced Quantity Surveyor. This is a genuine requirement; they’re busy and need someone who can pick up projects and run with them. They have strong pipeline of work, a good mix of commercial and industrial builds, including some in the dairy, warehousing and processing/manufacturing space, and are now looking for an experienced QS or Estimator to come on board and help deliver.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Owning projects end to end, from procurement through to final account
  • Managing subcontractor packages, valuations, and variations
  • Cost planning and reporting as projects progress
  • Contract administration; RFIs, claims, and interpretation (NZS3910)
  • Working closely with the site team rather than being stuck at your desk

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong NZ commercial or industrial construction experience; Ideally main contractor side
  • Comfortable owning your own workload with minimal oversight
  • QS and/or estimating background; strong in one is ok, or capable across both is ideal
  • Intermediate to Senior level; you can take a project and get on with it
  • NZ-based and ready to go

Estimating experience is a bonus but not essential. If you’re strong on the QS side and keen to build that out, this is a good environment to do it in.
