We’re looking for a motivated and personable Sales Representative to manage and grow key customer accounts across Auckland, with potential to take on a broader North Island territory as you develop.
You’ll manage existing key customer accounts, build long-term relationships, and identify opportunities to grow sales within the research and life sciences community. You’ll work closely with universities, research institutes, hospital laboratories, and biotech companies, becoming a trusted advisor to your customers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and growing sales with existing customers such as universities, research institutes, and hospital labs.
- Conducting regular customer visits to map and develop your territory.

- Attending conferences, networking events, and supplier training sessions.
- Collaborating closely with the wider sales, customer service, and warehouse teams.
- Contributing positively to a fast-paced, self-directed team culture.
About You
You’re curious, energetic, and thrive on building connections with people. You enjoy learning about new products and applications and can communicate technical information clearly and credibly.
Prior sales experience is an advantage but not essential if you have a PhD — training will be provided for the right technically strong candidate.
As the ideal candidate, you’ll bring the following skills and experience:
- A strong life sciences background with a postgraduate qualification in microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry, molecular biology, or similar.
- Hands-on lab experience in techniques such as cell culture, proteomics, or molecular biology.
- Strong understanding of research consumables, lab equipment, reagents, and chemical safety.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with researchers and technical professionals.
- Commercial acumen: ability to turn those technical conversations into sales opportunities.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach and willingness to take ownership of your territory.
- Flexibility and a “pitch in” attitude suited to a growing, fast-moving business.
- This role is based in Albany, Auckland – non-negotiable. You must be comfortable driving to customer sites around Auckland and potentially travelling the wider North Island.
- Only candidates with full NZ working rights will be considered.
Why Join?
- Opportunity to join a growing, NZ-owned company making a real impact in the scientific community.
- Supportive, collaborative team culture with long-term staff and excellent internal knowledge sharing.
- Competitive salary with commission, company vehicle, and additional benefits including team lunches and a birthday day off.
