The Company:
This consultancy specialises in industrial electrical engineering and has built long-standing relationships with clients across power generation, utilities, and manufacturing sectors. Based in central Auckland, they have excellent technical expertise and a flexible, people-focused working environment.
Projects range from concept and feasibility through to detailed design, commissioning, and client support. 

The Role:
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll lead and contribute to the delivery of industrial HV/LV design projects, with responsibilities across design, documentation, analysis, and client engagement. You’ll report to a senior engineering manager and collaborate with a technically strong team.
Your role will involve:

  • Designing and delivering industrial electrical systems across LV and HV environments
  • Developing power system studies and calculations including load flow, protection coordination, short-circuit analysis
  • Preparing cable calculations, IO schedules, loop diagrams, schematics, and specifications
  • Using design tools such as ETAP, DigSILENT PowerFactory, and CYMCAP (preferred)
  • Contributing to industrial controls hardware and comms design (not software programming)
  • Supporting project management and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Participating in site visits (approx. 20% of time) with the remainder of work in-office

In-house CAD drafters will support you, allowing you to focus on engineering, not drafting.

About You:
We’re looking for a capable, proactive engineer who thrives in industrial environments and is keen to grow with a dynamic team. Your background may include hands-on experience, for example as an electrician before moving into engineering.

You’ll bring:

  • BE or NZCE (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
  • Significant experience in electrical design and delivery, ideally within NZ
  • Strong knowledge of LV/HV power systems and industrial controls
  • Experience with electrical modelling tools – ETAP, DigSILENT, CYMCAP (preferred)
  • Ability to carry out electrical calculations (e.g. cable sizing, transformer sizing)
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting
  • Project management capability and a client-focused mindset
  • A strong work ethic, initiative, and a collaborative, can-do attitude
  • NZ working rights and understanding of local standards
