Lead complex, high value projects with a specialist project management consultancy

I have an exciting opportunity with an established project management consultancy in Auckland who are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join their growing team. Known for delivering large, technically challenging projects, they operate with a flat even structure where everybody contributes to project delivery as a unit in order to successfully achieve the best outcome for their clients.

They’re extremely busy with a strong pipeline of major vertical developments for repeat blue-chip clients. The team is around 20 people, carefully selected to adhere to the positive and professional culture, where attitude is as important as technical capability.

The Opportunity

This role will see you leading several complex projects concurrently, each typically valued at $200m+. The work spans large commercial, civic, tertiary, and healthcare developments, with significant upcoming work in the national health sector as part of a major programme of new hospital projects.

While this role is Auckland-based, there will be intermittent travel to other regions across New Zealand as project stages require (not on a weekly basis).

You’ll be involved from early design through procurement and delivery, providing strong leadership, structured decision making, and clear communication across stakeholders and project teams.

What You’ll Bring

Experience

  • Extensive New Zealand experience is essential.
  • Proven delivery experience on complex $200m+ projects, ideally with some healthcare as well as general commercial.
  • Strong understanding of design management, procurement, programme, and cost/value trade-offs.
  • Consultancy or client-side project management experience is strongly preferred.

  • Personable, grounded, and easy to work with.
  • You communicate naturally and cope well under pressure.
  • Hands on, proactive, and willing to support colleagues across multiple projects.
  • Able to build trust quickly with both clients and delivery partners.
