Shift Maintenance Electrician

A leading FMCG manufacturer and recognised New Zealand brand, backed by a global food production group, is seeking a Shift Maintenance Electrician to join its Engineering Team in a lifestyle location in the lower North Island. Operating from a modern processing facility, the business combines skilled people, quality ingredients and advanced technology to deliver products enjoyed by households nationwide.

The Role

Reporting to the Technical Services Lead, the Shift Maintenance Electrician is responsible for safely maintaining plant operations to meet production demands, ensuring reliability of equipment, automation systems, and production lines. The role involves electrical fault-finding, preventative maintenance, breakdown response, and participation in continuous improvement initiatives across site.

There are two full-time position working 4 x 10-hour shifts. First role: Monday to Thursday, 5:00am-3:30pm, then Monday to Thursday, 12:30pm-11:00pm (late shift, this gets a shift allowance). The other role is:  Tuesday to Friday, 5:00am–3:30pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend and resolve electrical and machinery breakdowns to minimise production downtime
  • Carry out planned preventative and general electrical maintenance tasks
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance shutdowns and plant upgrade activities
  • Support plant optimisation and automation improvement projects
  • Ensure all electrical work is performed safely and in line with site policies and procedures
  • Report hazards, incidents and near misses, contributing to a strong health and safety culture
  • Liaise effectively with Engineering, Production, Quality, Health & Safety, and external contractors

 
About the Successful Candidate
This opportunity will suit a qualified Maintenance Electrician who enjoys working in a fast-paced industrial environment and takes pride in keeping production running safely and efficiently.

  • Registered Electrician with a current practising licence
  • Experience within FMCG, food production, manufacturing or other industrial environments (preferred)
  • Strong electrical fault-finding capability, particularly under pressure
  • Sound knowledge of preventative maintenance principles
  • High level of attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physically fit
  • SAP experience advantageous; training will be provided
  • You must currently be in NZ to be considered for this role.
