Shift Supervisor – Dairy Production

The Role:
We are seeking four Supervisors to oversee the day-to-day operations of Open Country’s new butter production plant. As a Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a team of three, including a process operator and two packing operators. You’ll ensure smooth operations in both the critical hygiene filling and packing areas, as well as the palletizing and dispatch area.

This role requires a hands-on approach, where you’ll not only lead your team but also step in to cover when needed. You will be instrumental in training staff, writing SOPs, and ensuring seamless communication between various departments such as planning, liquids, stores, warehouse, maintenance, and quality.
Hours are 12-hour shifts 2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off. You must be willing to work this shift pattern permanently.

Requirements:
We are looking for individuals with a strong work ethic, a proactive attitude, and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and have an interest in continuous improvement.

As the successful candidate you will ideally possess the following attributes:

  • Relevant experience in a similar role within a food processing environment, ideally in dairy.
  • Relevant qualification is ideal.
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various departments.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to be hands-on and lead by example.
  • Can write SOPs, basic computer skills, familiarity with CMMS concepts.
  • Fork hoist license or interest in obtaining this.
  • Full working rights in NZ.
