About the Role:
As a Software Engineer you will create and optimize new software products for an entirely new product offer. Building on this focussed new product development you will be charged to build on your learnings and project lead a team to bridge the gap with the legacy technologies. This is a future-focused role and is more than just a job; it’s an opportunity to take ownership of projects, collaborate with a lively and motivated team, and have a real impact on product innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop the software integrations needed for a new market-critical product development that has been 12 months in development so far
- Collaborate with internal teams to integrate software with mechanical and electronic components.
- Prototype, test, and refine software to meet high-performance standards.
- Scope and work with external providers to improve existing legacy systems to ensure they remain robust and dependable
- Develop new software architecture, using modern technologies to meet evolving customer and product demands in NZ, Australia and the USA.
- Lead backward integration projects to align heritage systems with incremental product developments already in the pipeline.

Skills and Experience Required:
Qualifications: Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience:
- At least 3 years of software development or system integration experience.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or PLC programming.
Technical Expertise:
- A solid understanding of software architecture and system design
- Experience maintaining legacy systems while developing modern software solutions
- Knowledge of cloud platforms, API development, and data modelling.
- Familiarity with best practices for system security and backwards integration.
