Our client, an NZ company, is an established manufacturer of medical devices for chronic wound care and hernia repair. From humble beginnings, they have become competitive contributors to the growing global wound care market and are developing additional products to complement their current range. The company is an accredited employer, however there is a strong preference for this person to be already living in NZ with full working rights.
About the Role:
This role is a great career opportunity for an experienced Product Development Engineer who can come in and hit the ground running.
The Senior Product Development Engineer reports to the Product Development Manager and will manage new product development projects from early concept through to design verification testing and commercial readiness. You will work in a hands-on, technically demanding environment, and lead and contribute to robust testing, risk management, and design control processes within a highly regulated field. You will also be expected to mentor junior staff members, and work collaboratively.
This is a full time, permanent role, working on site in Airport Oaks, Auckland. 40 hours per week Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am and 6pm (flexibility offered within these times).
About You, the Candidate:
This is a key position in the development of our client’s operation and so as a suitable candidate you will have significant experience in product development within a medical device / biotechnology, (or possibly pharmaceutical) manufacturing environment. Moreover, you’ll have a practical engineering understanding, strong communication and interpersonal skills, time management and a keen eye for detail.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, experience, and characteristics:
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- 6+ years’ experience in a similar role in pharmaceuticals or medical devices (or another highly regulated field and exposure to medical device industry).
- Demonstrated experience in designing and developing new products through to design verification and launch.
- Proven capability in developing and executing test strategies, along with a deep understanding of design verification processes and planning.
- Experience leading projects, with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage timelines, resources, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Understanding of 3D modelling software such as SOLIDWORKS Rhino 3D, CREO, other similar CAD software is advantageous.
- Strong skills in risk management and design control processes aligned with regulatory and quality standards.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise workload.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
