Industrial Electrician

This opportunity sits within a well-established engineering business delivering fabrication, installation, and servicing work across heavy industry and infrastructure projects.

The work is practical and varied, often running from workshop-based work through to installation and testing on client sites.

The Role

You’ll join a small, highly skilled team of five tradespeople – one electrician and four mechanical fitters – working across industrial equipment and engineering projects.

Your work will focus on industrial electrical systems and plant, including:

  • Working with electromechanical equipment, including motors, VSDs, gantry/overhead cranes, conveyors and automated machinery
  • Electrical maintenance, installation, and servicing work
  • Fault finding and troubleshooting on industrial systems
  • Electrical work associated with plant upgrades and servicing
  • Working closely with a team of fitters, including mechanical tasks

This is a practical role suited to an electrician who enjoys hands-on work and being involved in mechanical systems as well as electrical.

Travel

Site travel is required, typically overnight travel around once per week, depending on project schedules.

Ideal Experience

  • NZ Electrical Registration and a current practising license.
  • Hands-on experience with electromechanical and mechanical components (happy to swing spanners, not just screwdrivers).
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Comfortable working alongside mechanical trades teams
  • A practical, problem-solving approach
  • Willingness for frequent travel and support site work

What’s in It for You?

  • $45 – $60/hour depending on experience
  • Overtime after 40 hours
  • Tool allowance
  • Away allowances (meals + daily)
  • Varied project work with a well-established engineering team

If you’re an industrial electrician who enjoys hands-on work, problem solving, and variety beyond standard maintenance roles, this could be a great fit.
