Mechanical Fitter
This opportunity sits within a well-established engineering business delivering fabrication, installation, and servicing across heavy industry and infrastructure projects.
The work is practical, varied, and project-based – often running from fabrication in the workshop through to installation and testing on client sites.
The Role
You’ll be involved in a mix of workshop and site-based work, including:
- Fault finding and diagnostics on mechanical systems
- Machining, fabrication, and welding work
- Building and assembling hoppers, conveyors, lifting beams, and structural components
- Installation and assembly work on client sites
- Load testing and commissioning lifting equipment
- Working with jib cranes and lifting systems
- Supporting crane servicing and inspection work
- Contributing to projects from fabrication through to final installation
Travel
Some site travel is required, typically one week away every few months, depending on project schedules.
Ideal Experience
- Trade-qualified Fitter
- Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, and conveyor systems
- Strong fitting, turning, and machining capability
- Ability to read engineering drawings and work independently
- Fabrication and welding experience is desirable
