Mechanical Fitter

This opportunity sits within a well-established engineering business delivering fabrication, installation, and servicing across heavy industry and infrastructure projects.

The work is practical, varied, and project-based – often running from fabrication in the workshop through to installation and testing on client sites.

The Role
You’ll be involved in a mix of workshop and site-based work, including:

  • Fault finding and diagnostics on mechanical systems
  • Machining, fabrication, and welding work
  • Building and assembling hoppers, conveyors, lifting beams, and structural components
  • Installation and assembly work on client sites
  • Load testing and commissioning lifting equipment
  • Working with jib cranes and lifting systems
  • Supporting crane servicing and inspection work
  • Contributing to projects from fabrication through to final installation

Travel
Some site travel is required, typically one week away every few months, depending on project schedules.

Ideal Experience

  • Trade-qualified Fitter
  • Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, and conveyor systems
  • Strong fitting, turning, and machining capability
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and work independently
  • Fabrication and welding experience is desirable
