Based in their Frankton office, you’ll be working alongside an established local team with flexible working arrangements available for the right person.

The Opportunity

The business is looking for an experienced Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to become the commercial lead for its Queenstown operation. You’ll have support from senior management and an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor based in the head office, giving you the autonomy to lead commercial work locally while having support and national resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead measurement and estimating for commercial projects
  • Prepare competitive tenders and pricing submissions
  • Assist with procurement of materials and subcontractors
  • Manage project costs, claims, variations and monthly reporting
  • Monitor commercial risk and identify opportunities 
  • Build relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Support the local manager on business management an growth

About You

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working in a social, down to earth team and enjoys responsibility and broad responsibilities. Ideally you’ll have:

  • Quantity Surveying / Estimating experience (from New Zealand) 
  • Quantity Surveying qualification (preferred)
  • Experience measuring concrete packages or similar commercial subcontract works
  • Sound knowledge of NZ construction contracts and commercial practices
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating with a wider team
  • Strong communication, organisation and negotiation skills
