Automation Manager

We’re looking for a motivated Automation Manager to join an outstanding materials handling and automation business in their Brisbane office (Southern suburbs)

The Role
As the Automation Manager you will oversee the Automation & Electrical Design department. This team is responsible for the automation and electrical design, commissioning, and service support of large-scale industrial chilling and freezing systems and materials handling equipment.

Further details are:

  • Management of a team of 7 Automation Engineers – 5 in Brisbane, 2 in New Zealand
  • Overall responsibility for the successful delivery of materials handling automation projects
  • Typical projects are in food, dairy and meat processing facilities.
  • Project involvement is from initial sales, through to commissioning
  • Brisbane based – with minimal travel required
  • Work closely with the team to ensure budgets are met and workloads are consistent between staff
  • Ensure PLC programming methods are standardised across projects – for consistent after sales maintenance/service


About You:
As an experienced Automation Engineer and leader, you will need the following experience:

  • Extensive experience with PLC and HMI Programming and Design
  • Allen Bradley PLC’s and FactoryView HMI experience preferred (Other systems can be considered)
  • FMCG, or fast moving materials handling experience is essential
  • People leader – with staff in the local office and NZ, it is integral this person can engage and inspire the team
  • Forward thinking – ability to employ and adopt new technologies

Salary will be approximately $145 – $160K + 11.5% Superannuation. No vehicle included – as travel is rare.
