CNC Laser Cutter – Machine Operator
A dominating leader in their field, our client manufactures a specialist range of functional machinery and processes for global manufacturing markets. They aim to deliver the best bespoke engineering solutions and services across NZ and are on the hunt for an exceptional Machine Operator to join their results driven team.

 
The Role:
Our client has recently invested in a state-of-the-art CNC Fibre Laser Cutter and are looking for an outstanding Machine Operator to own and oversee the day-to-day running of the machine.

Ideally bringing experience in both computer controlled and manual mechanical machinery, the incumbent will be responsible for the following tasks (but not limited to):

  • Efficient setup and operation of the Laser Cutter
  • Ensuring plate cutting production targets are met
  • Loading and unloading of sheets and cut parts as required
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting any technical issues with the machine
  • Cleaning and maintenance of the laser cutter, cutting area and related equipment
  • Ensuring sufficient materials are available / stock control
  • Identifying and implementing any cost & waste reducing improvements to processes
  • Undertaking additional training that may be identified as and when required

Based locally in Wellington, this role works Monday – Friday, 6.30am to 3.00pm with overtime hours & rates available (depending on workloads).
 
You, the Candidate:
Bringing experience in running and ‘owning’ a significant, computer-controlled piece of equipment, the ideal candidate will bring a strong mechanical aptitude to efficiently operate and maintain the laser cutter.

More importantly, our client is looking for a Machine Operator that has a willingness to learn, consistently brings a positive attitude into work, and can confidently take ownership and accountability for the running of this brand-new machine. 

The ideal candidate will also bring the following skills and attributes:

  • Previous experience with machine operation, ideally in a food manufacturing or engineering setting
  • Overhead crane operation experience beneficial but not essential
  • Proven experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting machinery in a production or engineering related setting
  • Strong communication, literacy, and numerical skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as required
