Bring your design management and project expertise to a project blending large-scale construction complexity with innovative design-led outcomes and play a pivotal role through the whole project lifecycle.

This highly successful national contractor enjoys long term relationships and a strong pipeline of negotiated design-build projects resulting in the creation of a new role to lead the front end of projects through development of design, methodology, programme, and cost whilst fostering strong relationships with consultants and stakeholders to set up projects efficiently and then support site delivery teams through construction. 

This role suits someone practical, commercially sharp and good with people — someone who can bring structure, an eye for detail, build trust and keep momentum across multiple elements. 

In this role you will :

  • Lead the end to end design process
  • Develop & manage pre-construction programmes
  • Drive buildability and value engineering initiatives
  • Actively collaborate on cost & commercial planning 
  • Manage consenting and early project risks
  • Oversee the production of quality designs & documentation
  • Support delivery teams through construction  
  • Manage relationships with clients, stakeholders and consultants

For this key appointment we are seeking:

  • Extensive Design Management experience on major projects
  • Project Management experience on Design Build Projects advantageous 
  • Excellent knowledge of value engineering & risk management
  • Proven ability to build great relationships & drive decisions
  • Experience from a commercial contractor preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of local Building codes, consenting & construction
  • Excellent coordination skills and eye for detail

Ideally would be have worked for a major commercial contractor in New Zealand on large building projects and bring a strong understanding of Pre-Construction with demonstrated success working on Design Build projects.
