Electrical Engineer – Industrial / Control Systems
This Hamilton based consultancy has been doing solid, well-regarded engineering work in food processing and dairy for over 30 years. They’re busy, technically sharp, and they look after their people. Right now they need an Electrical Engineer who can come in, pick up a project brief, and run with it. We’re open to experience levels, and happy to chat with intermediate or senior engineers.

The Role
You’ll be working across a range of electrical and control engineering projects – hazardous area design, safety systems, industrial power and control, and process-related electrical work. The mix varies. One project might be dairy, the next something different. 

Dairy or food processing experience is useful, but if you’ve got a solid industrial background from another process sector, that’s worth a conversation too.

Responsibilities

  • Dairy, FMCG and industrial project work
  • Hazardous area (dust and gas zone) classification and equipment selection
  • Electrical design for industrial control systems and power distribution
  • Functional safety work, including IEC 61511 applications
  • Project delivery from concept through to commissioning
  • Working alongside process and mechanical engineers on shared projects
  • Some project management support where needed
  • Direct client and site engagement


What We Are Looking For
Intermediate to senior level. You’ve done this work before and can operate with a reasonable degree of independence. There’s strong expertise within the team and so guidance, mentorship and team is close at hand, but this isn’t a training role.

  • Electrical engineering degree or equivalent
  • Dust hazardous zoning experience – design, classification, documentation
  • Industrial control systems and/or power electronics design background
  • Familiarity with IEC 61511 functional safety principles
  • Networking and automation exposure helpful but not required
  • Dairy or food processing background preferred – similar industries considered
  • Some project management experience is a bonus
  • Electrical registration useful on site, not essential
  • Consultancy or contractor background both welcome
