What kind of Company is this?
This is just one office of a well-established and growing company in New Zealand who provide total engineering solutions from concept through to after sales support.

Their ingenuity to provide proven custom designed equipment and services has kept the business rolling in.

They specialise in design and build of Industrial Plant Equipment that they integrate into Manufacturing Plants.

The Company doesn’t have many competitors at the project size, high quality, and niche of projects they do. They are very stable and have a decent work flow of projects in NZ (80% +) and Australia. So, your job will be stable too.

Location

The Hawkes Bay is a good place to live if you would like the relaxed vibe of a smaller NZ city on the coastline. Napier has high sunshine hours, great for growing wine etc., exploring the outdoors, and raising a family.

The Role
This is a niche technical role requiring a high level of experience and understanding.
The key focus is mechanical commissioning. So, planning for commissioning of industrial plant, organising resources, creating commissioning plans, overseeing site work involving combustion tuning and mechanical commissioning, and finally client handover and training.

In addition to project site time, you will also provide site operational support to clients to troubleshoot process-related issues from time to time.

You will be joining and reporting to a very experience Commissioning Manager who can help you learn about typical time frames, Company processes, and specific equipment knowledge.

There is a collaborative culture here where people are willing to share their knowledge and experience with you.

Travel: Small projects will typically require 2 to 3 weeks of site time.
Large projects will be more like 2 to 4 months site time. So, you do need to be someone who is happy to travel and be on site 2 to 4 months annually.

In the office: When you are in the office, some of your activities will be making commissioning plans, contributing in HAZOP studies, addressing compliance issues, making operational manuals,

Project Location: More than 80% of the projects are NZ based, Australia is the next most common project location, along with a variety of other countries coming in third place.

Does this sound like you?

  • Specialist experience in solid fuel combustion systems, and mechanical commissioning processes on industrial manufacturing plant sites.
  • 5-10 years of experience in commissioning work preferred
  • Ideally you have had exposure to pressure vessels, steam equipment, pumps, fans, and control valves
  • Ability to read P&IDs and understand process descriptions
  • HAZOP study participation
  • Compliance knowledge
  • Some electrical and controls knowledge would be helpful to aid in electrical and controls commissioning timeline planning. The engineering for this will be done by other engineers.
  • You do need to be a New Zealand Citizen or Resident to apply because you need to be able to travel to other countries from time to time for projects. You will also need a valid NZ driver’s license and passport.
