Our client is a well-established leader in their niche field of design, in-house build, and international export of specialist and complex heavy machinery. An abundance of work orders has led to this opportunity for a position of Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team, based in the Bay of Plenty.

The Role
The role is responsible for the design and continuous improvements of heavy machinery plant – seeing projects through from concept to commissioning.

Specifically, you will:

  • Design new and continuously improve existing machinery
  • Be involved in sales concept meetings to provide input into quotes and tenders
  • Provide technical support throughout the project stages

To be successful in the role you will:

  • Be a tertiary qualified mechanical engineer
  • Have previous design experience with heavy machinery plant, including FEA and structural loadings
  • Be proficient in AutoCAD Inventor
  • Have proven experience with the manufacturing fabrication processes

You will be a genuine people person with strong communication skills, a self-starter, diligent in your work and a natural problem solver who just gets on with it, being comfortable working in a team or working autonomously.
